Pureis® Ultra Pure CBD enters final phase of UK Novel Food Licensing

This milestone brings us one step closer to becoming a fully licensed CBD product and gaining the final authorisation as a safe, pure CBD food supplement.

What is a Novel Food?

CBD is classified as a Novel Food which refers to food products that are either entirely new or produced using methods not previously used for human consumption. This category includes CBD, as it’s a relatively recent addition to the mainstream food market.

Novel Food regulations ensure the safety and transparency of these new products. By undergoing a rigorous approval process, global authorities ensure that consumers can be confident they’re getting a high quality and safe CBD product – such as Pureis Ultra Pure CBD.

A Novel Food approval requires extensive safety studies to be carried out by internationally recognised Clinical Research Organisations. This includes; clinical testing to ensure product purity and consistency and toxicological evaluations to comply to all the consumer safety requirements.

Next Steps in Our Journey

Over the upcoming 12-week public consultation, Pureis will work closely with the FSA to finalise risk management recommendations. Once approved by the Minister, Pureis will hold full Novel Food authorisation – cementing Ultra Pure CBD as the safest, purest Lab-Made CBD for sale in the UK and beyond.
